Since the beginning of time the enemy has done whatever he could to get us to take our gaze off our Heavenly Father. He is all about keeping us from living the abundant life Jesus talked about in John 10:10. If we belong to Christ, Satan can’t take our soul but, he will do whatever he can to set a trap that will rob us of our joy and make life the pits!
Female pitfall #10: Guilt Trips.
Stop leading & joining them. It takes time to change this communication habit, but if we don’t lovingly confront the issue, resentment will put distance in our relationships. Call out your mama; apologize to your kids. Get off this train. (Heb. 10:22)
Female pitfall #9: Insecurity.
To be secure means “Fixed or fashioned so as not to give way.” When we attach to our Maker, we will not fall apart. (John 15:7-8)
Female pitfall #8: People Pleasing.
This doesn’t come close to what Jesus said. He said Love people; not please people. There’s a difference. Living for others to validate you is exhausting. Jesus said come to me; I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28; Gal:1:10)
Female Pitfall #7: Procrastination.
Cramming 20 lbs of cement in a 10 lb. bag cause I shoulda paved that road two days ago. The goal: Plan & execute. (Eph. 5:15-17)
Female pitfall #6: Criticism.
When you’re prone to critique everyone & everything, YOU might be the problem. #HeartIssues.
The goal: #FindTheGood (Eph. 4:29)
Female pitfall #5: Over-Analyzing.
It’s sorta like, well maybe kinda…nah, not really but it could be so I’ll get back with you on this one!! Sound familiar? This pitfall is better known as analysis paralysis. The goal: Pay more attention to the moment; Stop thinking about your next move; Accept that sometimes people actually say what they mean, and find a balance. (Rom. 12:12)
Female pitfall #4: Grudge Holding.
The older I get the more I realize how much I need forgiveness 70×7. Every. Day. The goal: Live The Forgiveness You’ve Been Given. (Eph. 4:31-32)
Female pitfall #3: Excessive Gab.
She who learns to talk less shall inherit information, win friends and keepeth ones foot out of mouth. (James 1:19)
Female pitfall #2: Comparison.
This a major distraction from our main goal: …”to win the prize for which God has called US heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Each one of us is uniquely equipped for our personal role.
All eyes on Him with whom no one compares. (2 Cor 10:12)
Female pitfall #1: Perfectionism.
If your goal is to make an impression you might be headed for depression. The goal: Hope for the best, expect great things & let it go. (2 Cor. 12:9-10)
I need the safety net of God’s Word to catch me before I take take a nose dive into one of these pits and find myself looking for a way out…again! Thankfully the cross of Christ fits the pit!
In His grip,
Julie
