Meet Julie
Julie Boyd loves people, and she loves to talk…especially about Jesus! She has been entertaining and inspiring audiences from a young age as a humorous storyteller, accomplished ventriloquist and captivating Christian speaker. She began her formal ministry after receiving an undergrad degree from William Carey University and a Masters from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
Julie and her husband, Dr. Charles “Poker” Boyd have been married since 1982. Charles is President/Founder of Student Ministry Essentials. They reside in Birmingham, Alabama where Julie also serves as Director of Parent and Family Programs at Samford University. She’s often the featured speaker for women’s events and retreats. Julie and “friends” also speak/entertain for non-profits as well as church-wide and age-targeted ministry events.
Julie and Poker have two adult sons, both in ministry. Jay, and Lauren have two children and live in Greenwood, SC. Jarred and Megan have three children and live in Atlanta, GA. They love spending time with their five grandchildren who affectionately refer to them as “Shug and Poppy!” Julie and Poker are active members of Double Oak Community church in Birmingham.
