How easily we take things for granted until something like a hot water heater goes on the blink! Now, I am not a diva. As a child I took baths in my great grandmother’s # 2 wash tub when we visited
her simple country home. Last year on a mission trip in Uganda, we were without running water for three days and it was no big deal. I have taken many a “sponge” bath in my day. I camp out (in tents), and I know how to “rough it!”
But, for some reason, when my husband announced that it would be a week before the parts came in, the diva in me showed up! I wanted to whine. I wanted to check in at the Hampton a few miles up the road. I wanted a rush order on my hot water heater. Instead, we got the pots out and started boiling water. And, it hasn’t been that bad. Actually, once I resolved that I would make the best out of the s
ituation, it became a part of life….this week.
When the early Christians were starting their faith journey, they needed encouragement to know what it means to live out their faith. Barnabas showed up to disciple them in the Word of God so they would know how to depend on Christ before things got really rough. Acts 11:23 – says “(Barnabas) encouraged them to RESOLVE to remain true to the Lord.”
The only way I will remain true to the Lord is to stay completely connected to Him through His Word and daily prayer. Lord, I RESOLVE not to get caught up in my list of things to do and put you and your Word last. Help me put your Word first on my “to do” list because staying in it will help me BE all that you’ve c
alled me to DO in this world.
Make up your mind to stay true to the Lord…to stay in His Word daily.
