Fashion Confession

My Friend surprised me with a subscription to a fashion magazine a few years ago for my birthday. We have a history of sitting on a beach together passing these five dollar magazines back and forth. We fold down the corners of brightly colored pages filled with ads and pics of 4-inch heels we will never buy and dresses made for tall, skinny models.

Now, I eagerly anticipate the arrival of these monthly magazines! I have to confess. When they come I have a routine: I curl up on the couch in my flannel pjs with a diet coke and peanut m&ms all set to peruse the fashion world as if I have a clue! Usually after viewing way too much cleavage and legs as long as my entire body I’m always inspired to find “alternative” conservative approaches to what the “world” is selling. I have found that God’s Word always has the best fashion advise.

“You were taught to put away your former way of life, your old self, corrupt and deluded by its lusts, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to CLOTHE yourselves with the new self, created according to the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.” Ephesians 4:22-24.

Lord, may the way I live and the way I dress reflect the new me clothed in you.
